Ryan is a Steadicam Operator based in New York City.
His work ranges from Commercial, Narrative, Music Video, Fashion, Corporate and Documentary.
He graduated from Hampshire College with a concentration in Visual Perception and Filmmaking. His studies of how the mind interacts with light - shaping the perception of our environment - had him eager to practice the techniques and mechanics of lighting for film. He began working in the grip and electrical departments and, additionally, experimenting building shoulder mounts and stabilizers.
It was his interest in achieving a smooth shot, reflecting how our brain perceives motion, that led him to the Steadicam Workshop. Shortly after completing the workshop he met and networked with operators local to NYC and began his work as a Steadicam Operator.
When he isn’t operating Steadicam, he usually rides his motorcycle to the nearest mountain he can hike.
